In a series of interviews of local Eastern Shore residents during 1970 to 1972, former Salisbury University students and professors, Cathy Wright, Debbie McCollister, and Mrs. Sylvia Smith collected folk legends. For this collection, these interviews focus on the story of Bloody Henny. Henny was a African American slave who was treated poorly and one day she took revenge and harmed her master and his family. She was caught and trialed in Spring Valley, Maryland. Most interviews include personal descriptions of the interviewer and informant, and the story.

Folklife Collection - Local Legends: The White Dove

In a series of interviews of local Eastern Shore residents during the years of 1970 to 1972, former Salisbury University students Peggy Hoyle and Debbie McCollister collected folk legends. For this collection, these interviews focus on various stories of a white dove that a widowed husband believed to be his dead wife. His wife promised she would return as a dove before she died, but did not return until her husband was getting married to another women. To make his new wife happy, he tried to shoot the dove and the next day he mysteriously died. Most interviews include personal descriptions of the interviewer and informant, and the story.
